The molam project is made possible with a generous support from the Creative Work Fund, and sponsored by the Lao Art ad Culture Association, and the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts. We are pleased to provide an opportunity to share this fundamental traditional Lao art form with the general public, and to support Lao artists who still practice molam. In Laos, molam is ubiquitous, as troupes are regularly hired to perform at temple festivals, receptions and other events. The Center for Lao Studies believes that modernized molam reung, which combined hip hop with the traditional skills and knowledge of the molam troupe, would help preserve molam.
